A WARM WELCOME FROM THE CHAIRMAN
A warm welcome to Bramley Cricket Club. We are a friendly and progressive club that has been established for many years and have the claim to fame of hosting the first ever recorded game of women’s cricket back in the 1700’s.
We are fortunate to play our cricket on the attractive grounds of Gosden Common surrounded by picturesque cottages and over the last years have made significant improvements to our facilities including redecoration of the Pavilion and have installed new changing facilities and a new kitchen.
We have three vibrant teams and in 2011 played 54 games. Our 1st and 2nd XI teams compete on Saturdays in the I’Anson League and we have a friendly Sunday XI competing against teams in Surrey and Sussex.
Last year, we fielded 72 playing members, scored over 8,000 runs and took over 400 wickets. Socially, we regularly frequent the local pub after matches and run barbecue events, 20:20 matches and participate in evening fixtures through the summer.
The 1st XI finished 6th in Division 3 of the I'Anson League, skilfully skippered by Darren Connor with 9 wins, 6 draws and 4 losses. The 2nds, newly promoted to Division 4 also finished 6th with 4 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses.
The Sunday side played 18 games, won 7, drew 4 and lost 7.
So you can see, we always have room for improvement. With the start of 2012, we are looking forward to a great season of cricket. We are running nets through the winter period and sessions start on Thursday 9th February and run for 10 weeks. There are two indoor nets we hire at Charterhouse School and the session runs from 8-9PM.
We are also looking to start a junior side in 2012 and plans are underway to make this a reality.
So, if you are looking for a club with good facilities, competitive cricket played in the right spirit and a great social scene, then we look forward to welcoming you.
Please feel free to contact me personally for more information through the 'Contact Us' page on this website.
All the very best,
Jon Vernon
Chairman
